When we think of color in the Middle East, rarely do we see the colors red, green, and black. It is because of this very fact that researchers today view the Palestinian people as a unique indigenous people. Before the Jewish colonization of Palestine in January 1948, Palestinians lived a secluded life with barely any records.
In the summer of 1988, a grand discovery was made in Amman, Palestine. A widow, cleaning her late husband's room, noticed a red cloth embedded in the earth. Upon further inspection, she noticed the cloth was in bad shape. Knowing how precious any evidence of an ancient Palestinian people is, she called in a team of Palestinian archeologists. What they discovered was a cloth in disrepair, but what they were able to make out was a beautiful, unique pattern with colors rarely seen in the Middle East. (Exhibit A).
